REAL Cit Ed Consultation Meet in Seberang Perai

The REAL Cit Ed Programme (Relevant, Empowering, Active Learning Citizenship Education) held its first content development consultation for the semi rural municipality of Seberang Perai (MPSP– Majlis Daerah Kuala Selangor) last Sunday, April 12, 2009

The meeting, co-organised by the local NGO host, Bukit Mertajam Women’s Rights Awareness Association (BMWRAA), saw a promising turnout of local councilors, resident association representatives, an anti-drug association member, state assemblymen representatives and council staff.

The group expressed that the main concern of the municipality was to ensure sustainable development especially in relation to the environment. Participants were also very receptive on the concept of partnership governance. Additionally, several participants indicated a readiness to adopt future strategies to create awareness among their residents in Seberang Perai through this method of trainings on good governance.
