1. Empty Promises, Damned Lives (20:00 mins) and Mother's of Bakun (18:00 mins), 1999 (English)
Two documentary films depicting the Bakun issue and the indigenous peoples' struggle against the hydroelectric dam in the Bakun area of Sarawak, Malaysia. The Bakun dam is said to be the largest in South East Asia and has already displaced almost 10,000 indigenous people from their ancestral land.

2. Housing Rights from Below, 2002 (17:00 mins) (English)
As Malaysia races across the development path towards a "squatter free" and "fully-developed" nation, are the interests of the urban poor fully considered? What about the housing rights of these people? How does Malaysia's social housing policies and legislatives regime compare with international standards? 

3. Small Loans, Changed Lives. 2002 (16:00 mins) (English)
This is the story of how credit saving initiatives have changed the livelihood, relationships and living environment of the rubber and oil palm plantation workers and their families. It highlights the community’s capacity to harness, mobilize and manage human and financial resources in their effort to improve their quality of life.

4. Bangsa Malaysia , 2005 (Malaysian Races)

This is a compilation of four short videos for the ‘Education on Non-Discrimination of Ethnicity in Malaysia’ project carried out by KOMAS. The short stories show different situations of racial discrimination and stereotyping in Malaysia.

The yearly series are intended to be used as a resource for public education on racism issues, and are designed specifically to generate discussions to raise awareness among its viewers .

A story that highlights the perpetual cycle of discrimination in our society.

b) "Darahku Merah" (My Blood is Red) ( 14:40 mins)
A little girl, through her innocent idealism, questions her parents on the media play on race and skin colour.

c) "Loud Thoughts" ( 05:06 mins)
Secret thoughts of prejudices are depicted in this film.

d) "Antara Cinta dan Bangsa" (Between Love & Race" ( 05:40 mins)
Watch Angela go through a learning period of labels, social stereotyping and discrimination in love and social relationships.

A film depicting human rights situation in Malaysia.

6. Grassroot Voices , 2002 (36:55 mins)(English)
"Grassroot Voices" is a collection of stories about community grassroots advocacy work in five South East Asia countries. The video highlights the rich experiences of these communities in their endeavors to realise their vision for a better society.

7. Indigenous Women in Transition, 2001 ( 25 mins) (Malay with English Subtitles)
Two documentaries by Red Communications, a Malaysian production house, depicting the Orang Asli (Indigenous People in Malaysia). While one gives a take on the importance of education for the youth in a Semai community, the other short film talks about the process of a traditional cultural Semai wedding ritual.

8. Buddha's Touch in Tamaole , 2002 ( 18 mins) (English)
A Buddhist monk, inspired by Buddha’s teachings, brings change to an economically poor community that neglects its natural environment.

Praeh Ong Chip Chan To served as a monk in Tamaole, a small rural village in Cambodia for six years. After years of observing the ecological destruction caused by the villagers' agricultural practices, the monk realised that the villagers’ have to start taking responsibility of their actions.

Even though it is not an easy task in a country where any sort of community organisation (CO) brings back memories of the cruel Pol Pot regime, Praeh patiently educates them on nature conservation through CO. He leads them to think not only of their immediate needs, but also the needs of their children.

9. The Untold Stories of Migrant Workers in Malaysia, 1996.

Malaysia is now the temporary home to an estimated three million migrant workers. They come from Indonesia, Philippines, Burma, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Thailand. Unfortunately, life is not easy as they had thought it would be. These are their stories.

10. Colours for Change (30:24 mins) (English/Malay)
This video contains unique stories of how community organisers in several South East Asian (SEA) countries use creative popular communications approaches to organise poor communities. Their rich experiences in working with the indigenous people, urban poor, women and youth are vividly shared through colourful on-location video footages of their work in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and the Philippines.
