“Ayah Kenapa Tebang Pokok Pisang (15 mins) Hassan, an 8 year old boy, witnessed the financial difficulties his family had to go through when they were forced to move from their home in the village to the city. Hassan’s family was not only the one that was affected when the rich investors bought their village land.
“Laundry” (9 mins) College student, Davina had qualms about helping Aishah, an Indonesian maid that lives next door, when the latter wanted to borrow her cell phone to call her family member. However when Davina started to befriend Aishah, she sensed something was amiss with the way the maid was treated by her employer - Davina’s neighbor.
Jalan-Jalan (7 mins) Amelia, Hadin, Ching and Abhay were set to race against each other in a walkathon in this multi lingual, comical short film. In the walkathon, each character interacted with hostility and in the spirit of competition, have even used their distinctive mother tongue/preferred language to spite each other.

Suganya begs to differ. “She’s my son” tells the story of Suganya from her mother’s point of view. “He” before the sex change, had the courage to face this reality and today as “she” strolls the road confidently with the acceptance of family and friends.

Unknown to many, October 20 th, 1947 was an important and historical day in the people’s constitution struggle for independence from British Colonialism. This documentary chronicles the events that culminated in the Malaya-wide “Hartal” day protest (a form of non-violent protest) against the undemocratic Federation of Malaya Constitution Proposals devised by the British Colonial Government and UMNO. This was the rise of the people’s democratic movement in Malaya, ten years before merdeka.

Local council elections were first introduced in 1952. The first general election was held in 1959 the most fair and independent election ever held in Malaysia. Elections for Local councils are no longer in practice. In 2007, the election commission made and announcement that indelible ink would be used to prevent votes from being cast more than once. Four days before Election Day; however, it has been ruled out on security reasons. This riled the opposition, the NGO’s and Malaysians in General. The March 2008 12 th general election suffered because of this controversial issue. Everyone knows that democracy depends upon information; information depends upon a media that is independent, objective and can produce quality information to inform citizens. Fighting fro democracy is everyone’s responsibility.

What it is like to be a Muslim transsexual worker in Malaysia? Shot in the Chow Kit red light district, the documentary revolves around Natasha, a Muslim Mak Nyah, who refuses to live life as a man. Cross dressing is a crime under the Syariah court system for Muslims and the penalties are severe. But it wasn’t always so. How did Malaysia become so heavy handed on the transsexual community? Kayuh is the first- hand account of a 100-strong contingent of cyclist who rode from Alor Setar and Johor Bharu to Kuala Lumpur for 16 days in order to address 6 major concerns of marginalized groups in Malaysia.
The filmmaker, a participant in the cycling campaign herself, attempts to put a human face to the 6 demands contained in a memorandum that was handed over to the parliament at the end of the journey.
